Another week another post

Ho hum, what has happened?

Well quite a lot really. I returned to rowing training after a week and a half off and despite being absolutely motivated (having just watched "True Blue" which ROCKED) I pulled one of my worst ergs this season. ARGH. I've stopped doing math homeworks again...I'm gonna fail if I don't knuckle down over thanksgiving. I got an A in my theatre paper and a B in my writing paper, which are my best grades in each course respectively. My writing teacher really doesn't like my comic writing style. Well screw him. I'm tired of having the whole *hitting the examiner's buttons* school exam style of writing, I want some individuality and creativity. My essays are mine, and it is not a fact that humour detracts from academic writing. Yeah. My theatre professor actually complemented me on my humourous part of my essay, so there.

Then on friday I flew out to Kentucky for Sugoicon. Wow. I will not forget that weekend for a long time. I was greeted at the airport by the Corn sign, which sent me into hysterics. I'd seen it in pictures, but somehow the physical presence of it was hilarious. I then finally met Amanda, Mike, Dia, and Dia's mom, and we all piled in Dia's mom's car and drove off to the convention. Now this was my first anime convention and apparently it's a small one, but I really liked it. The vendor stalls were great, and I bought a megatokyo t-shirt and a mac hall t-shirt, plus the Hellsing wallscroll. No Mr Saturn plushie though :(. On the friday we met almost everybody at the con, including Brian, Nikki, Joe, Reako, Chris, Doug, and Sarah (did I miss anyone?). I also tried pocky and some japenese drink involving a marble...what was it called? Also the anime showrooms kicked ARSE! I saw Ranma, a Slayers movie, Little Goddesses (I think that was it's name), Full Metal Panic!, and much much more (including a tentacle rape hentai that Chris and I walked in on [at 4ish in the afternoon? WTF?] and quickly left). I didn't go to any of the panels, workshops, or main events as non of them interested me (I would have like to have seen Amanda sing though. I DDRed, entered a SSB:M tournament (and got owned), played Soul Caliber 2 for the first time, watched Doug destroy his opponents in the GGXX tournament and collect some loot, and got scared by all the cosplayers. I would have like to have bought a plushie, but none of the ones there were to my taste. I also kind wated this really cool One Piece flag but it was $85 bucks as apparently it was the only one in the world (OMG LIES?).

Even more fun was had at Dia's house, especially with the game of 1000 Blank White Cards which turned out to be a huge success...I may have to introduce my other friends to it. No drinking though...shame. I also saw Excel Saga and Dragonhalf (anything else?) at Dia's house, both of which I liked thoroughly. We whiled away Friday night talking and watching tv on mute (no Rugby :( missed England winning. Get to see it tomorrow at a friend's house). On Saturday night Mike introduced me to the world of ARGing...a sort of RP that is more mental than creative, where you have to follow clues around the internet and even the real world to unlock the secrets in certain mysteries for the sheer pleasure of discovering the truth. It sounds like a lot of fun, I may have to join in on the next one...or maybe help Mike with the one he's planning (if he wants me to).

Returning to Duke it was as if nothing had changed. I had missed the defeat of UNC by the hands of our football team (two great matches on one day...and I miss them both?) and the resulting parties, but whatever. I'm back, and I'm happy. So cool.

As soon as I finish that camera I'll get them printed. Uploading may be tricky...I could wait until I go back to England and use my scanner there...or I could try and borrow one.

Borrow one. >:|

Or surely Duke has a scanner you can use. I know TMC does.
